A pair of cycling upgrades are underway in Toronto, with medians, bollards and painted cues to improve cycling connections and safety being added to Bartlett Avenue, Havelock Street, and Gladstone Avenue from Davenport Road to College Street, as well as associated changes to short sections of Bloor Street and Lindsey Avenue.
Work was approved by City Council as part of the Cycling Network Plan: 2022 Cycling Infrastructure Installation.
Work will add 3.5 kilometres of bikeways to the Bloor West area, including contra-flow bike lanes and traffic signals, a reduction in on-street parking spaces, and modifications to vehicle travel directions to make the area more cyclist friendly.
Also, a cycling infrastructure project along on Davenport Road between Dupont Street and Yonge Street, is the second phase of a 2021-initiated project that added cycle tracks to the stretch.
A third phase will extend the cycle tracks from Dupont Street to Bedford Road in 2023 or later.
