Toronto issues $1.243 billion in June building permits

Toronto recorded building permits valued at $1,243,520,713 in June, a decline from the $2,419,299,813 recorded in May.

Here are the five largest permits:

$300 million –50 Cumberland St.

A Toronto municipal construction staging report published in 2020 observes: “Cresford Developments is constructing a 68-storey mixed-used development and a 42story residential condominium building at 33 Yorkville Avenue and 50 Cumberland Street, respectively. The development site will have frontage on both Yorkville Avenue and Cumberland Street.”

$96.8 million – 440 Dufferin St.

The permit is for one of three buildings in The Brixton mixed-use project, a 12-storey structure. Graziani + Corazza Architects designed the project for Fitzrovia Capital/Dufferin Residences LP and CentreCourt Developments, Urban Toronto has reported.

$85.5 million – 155 Balmoral Ave.

Amica Senior Lifestyles is redeveloping a former retirement home at this site, combined with two adjacent properties, into a new 15-storey seniors’ committee. Montgomery Sisam Architects designed she structure to be known as Amica at The Balmoral Club.

$66 million – 2 Bloor St E.

Brookfield Property Partners is renovating the Hudson’s Bay Centre complex retail podium to convert the department store into integrated office and retail space, Urban Toronto says.

$65 million – 1496 Kingston Rd.

IBI Group designed this 12-storey mixed use condominium for Nova Ridge Development.
