Trevor Doucette has been named the 2026–2027 chair of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) board of directors, the organization announced following its annual general meeting on March 9.
Doucette, representing the Synergy Group of Companies, succeeds outgoing chair Francis Roy of the Humaco Group. In his inaugural remarks, Doucette emphasized a vision of modernization and collaborative growth for the national association.
“We must remain steadfast in our mission, embrace innovation, and strengthen our connections with our stakeholders, our clients, and our industry,” Doucette said in a statement. “Together, we can build on our success, learn from our challenges, and chart a course that will leave a lasting impact as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of construction.”
The transition comes as the CCA reflects on a 2025 term defined by significant political and economic shifts. In an annual review video released by the association, Roy described the past year as a “perfect storm” of change and uncertainty that ultimately saw the industry’s voice grow stronger.
Roy highlighted the success of the “Construction for Canadians” advocacy campaign, which secured 84 pledges of support and 74 candidate testimonials during a recent election cycle. He also noted that the industry’s priorities have been reflected in the federal government’s agenda, specifically citing engagement with “Prime Minister Carney’s building agenda” regarding the national infrastructure assessment and “build Canada homes” consultations.
The CCA also reported advancements in its “SignaSur” digital platform, which is currently being beta-tested and is scheduled for a full transition on Jan. 1, 2027. The platform aims to provide secure nationwide access to essential construction documents.
The 2026–2027 board includes several representatives from Ontario, including:
- Frank Faieta, Trisura Guarantee
- Marty Harris, Aecon
- Cathy Kent, Black & McDonald Limited
- Amber Sandhu, Liberty Mutual Canada
- Bruce Thomas, Ron Eastern Construction Ltd.
The CCA represents more than 18,000 member firms through 57 local and provincial integrated partner associations. According to association data, the construction sector employs more than 1.6 million Canadians and contributes 7.3 per cent to Canada’s gross domestic product.
