Windsor invites feedback on Derwent Park design concept

Ontario Construction News staff writer

The City of Windsor is looking for feedback on the concept design plan to build Windsor’s first full-size cricket pitch at Derwent Park, where there is about 11 acres of recreational greenspace.

A  survey is available until Jan. 12, 2024. For more information, including the design plan, click the link.

City council has committed $100,000 to complete design that would situate a cricket field within the park while also improving and extending nearby multi-use trails between Forest Glade Drive and the E.C. Row Expressway.

Derwent Park has 650 metres of gravel and natural trails that run through a scenic woodlot along the eastern edge of city land. Combined, the woodlot, trail, and open space cover approximately 32 acres in total.

The future cricket pitch would be the first full-size pitch and third pitch overall in Windsor.

The city has retained Bezaire Partners and Land Mark Consulting to develop a new functional design plan for Derwent Park. The new functional upgrades will be aimed at:

  • Cricket pitch
  • Cricket pitch lighting
  • Multi-use pathway with solar lighting
  • Public washrooms
  • Improving park accessibility
  • Additional parking
