Thora Vaultra Self Storage Facility

Location: Toronto

Stage: Design planning

Toronto East Partnership (Vaultra Asset Management) plans a 9706.45 sq. m. gross floor area, seven stories self storage facility in 11 buildings at 1 and 2 Thora Ave in Scarborough.

Key consultants include: Architect – Pearce McCluskey Architects Inc.; civil engineer – Husson Engineering & Management Limited; landscape architect – BTI Landscape Architects (Baker Turner); and planner: IBI Group Inc. (IBI Group Architects.)

The Thora Ave. site had been an auto recycling yard.

HMMS/LHSC University Hospital elevator upgrades

Markham Centre Campus construction manager

Location: Toronto

DataBid.com reports that York University is establishing a new campus in Markham Centre to meet York Region’s education research and innovation needs. “This satellite campus in Markham Centre aligns with the mission of the university and presents a significant opportunity to provide post-secondary programs to an underserved region of Ontario,” the statement says. “The new campus location will contribute in shaping the growth in York Region and supporting a healthy community environment and economy.”
“York is inviting suitable construction managers to participate in a multi-stage evaluation” for the campus with a target opening date of September 2023. The university says it intends to qualify as many as six proponents.

Eastern Ontario

Ottawa Police Service South Facility new construction Phase A

Location: Ottawa

Stage: Bids due Jan. 14, 2020

The City of Ottawa police Service (OPS) says the first stage of this project on a 15-acre site in south Ottawa at the former intersection of Woodroffe Ave and Prince of Wales Dr. will cost an estimated $81 million.

The new South Facility is expected to be located on the undeveloped land south of the Carleton Lodge Long-term Care facility east of Prince of Wales Dr. and west of Lodge Rd. The project at 55 Lodge Rd. will include: Frontline operations, canine unit, tactical unit, marine dive and trail unit, community relations, a collision reporting centre, and a community boardroom. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2021.

The second phase, to be completed by 2023, will include new facilities to accommodate corporate services, a new communications centre for the police call centre and 911 operators, and a new home for the Ottawa Police Strategic Operations Centre (OPSOC).

The city says Phase 3 is yet to be determined and will be guided by OPS needs and demands after the completion of the first two phases.
