BCA opens registration for Annual Hockey Tournament on Jan. 23

Ontario Construction News staff writer

The Barrie Construction Association (BCA) is gearing up for its annual hockey tournament, set for Jan. 23, 2026, at the East Bayfield Community Centre.

The one-day event will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is limited to 10 teams on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration costs $850 plus HST per team, with the deadline set for Jan. 16.

Teams must be made up of at least 60 per cent BCA members and be available to play anytime during the tournament window. Each team will be assigned its own dressing room. Completed team rosters and individual waivers must be submitted by Jan. 17 to al*********@******ca.com. Players are also required to read and acknowledge the tournament rules.

The BCA is also seeking sponsors to support the event, noting that the organization remains budget conscious and depends on member generosity. Available sponsorships include ice rental ($500), first aid coverage ($400), referee sponsorship ($300), lunch sponsorship ($200) and coffee and donut sponsorship ($100). All sponsors will be recognized on event signage.

Teams registering are asked to indicate their team colour and whether they will be providing a goalie in the additional information section of the checkout page.

Volunteers are also needed to run the time clock throughout the day, and the BCA notes the opportunity can count toward student community service hours. Those interested can contact Alison Smith at al*********@******ca.com or 705-726-5864 ext. 3.
