BCA switches service providers for its Electronic Plan Room

Ontario Construction News staff writer

The Barrie Construction Association says it plans to switch its electronic plan room from BestBidz to the ConstructConnect Electronic Plan Room.

In a memo to members on April 8, BCA executive director Alison Smith wrote: “BCA’s Electronic Plan Room (BestBidz) is provided by Infinite Source Systems and we have been informed that they are experiencing difficulties and may not be active for long.

“This is unrelated to the pandemic. We empathize that this is already a time of considerable unrest for our members, however this situation is simply not in our control.”
“Please be assured that the staff is working diligently to ensure uninterrupted service for our members.”

Smith wrote that the new ConstructConnect Project Intelligence (CCPI) service will:

  • Save time searching for projects by predicting projects of interest based on company profiles;
  • Help members stand out by promoting them “to the most engaged network of active general contractors to receive Invitations to Bid (ITBs)”;
  • Allow members to share projects and send notes across their team;
  • Send email alerts and notifications when new information is added to the “Watch List” of projects; and
  • “Give access to a fully-featured mobile app that keeps you in control wherever your job takes you.”

Smith writes that enhancements that BCA members will enjoy with CCPI include:

  • Access to pre-bid stage projects to fill their project pipelines earlier;
  • Promotion on the ConstructConnect network to receive ITBs from general contractors using ConstructConnect’s Bid Management solutions; and
  • Access to Canada’s largest construction company database, including project history and key contacts.

In addition, members will also have the option of adding a takeoff tool that will allow you to calculate quick and accurate estimates, saving precious time usually spent preparing files.
“We will be transitioning to this new platform in the coming weeks,” Smith wrote.
