Brampton’s construction sector showed strong activity in 2025, driven by industrial, commercial, and institutional projects across key growth sectors, according to the city’s economic development office 2025 annual report.

“The strength of Brampton’s economy comes from attracting major investment while continuing to champion entrepreneurs and local businesses,” said Regional Councillor Gurpartap Singh, economic development committee chair. “With more than 122,000 businesses and nearly $1 billion in industrial construction value in 2025, our city remains a top choice for companies looking to grow, hire and invest for the long term.”

Industrial construction led the way in 2025 with $997 million in project value, while commercial and institutional projects totaled $227 million and $354 million. The city issued 248 industrial, commercial, and institutional permits last year.

Major industrial developments included:

  • Panattoni/Mobile Climate Control: Groundbreaking on a $120 million advanced manufacturing and R&D facility, creating more than 700 jobs
  • Marcangelo Foods (Concord Premium Meats Ltd.): $70 million food processing plant, 300 new jobs
  • Powersmiths: Fourth advanced manufacturing facility in Brampton, $8 million investment
  • Valle Foam: 18,000 sq. ft., $6 million facility expansion with new testing lab
  • Chobani: Continued expansion in Brampton’s Innovation District
  • MDA Space: $200 million new headquarters recognized with NAIOP REX Award
  • Prologis: $258 million acquisition of a 90-acre industrial site from Canadian Tire Real Estate

Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Medicine, opened in September 2025, added institutional construction to the total.

Infrastructure and site preparation work, supported by development charge reductions and programs like the Tax Increment Equivalent Grant (TIEG), also boosted construction growth.

“From industrial facilities to institutional expansions and Innovation District growth, our city continues to deliver projects that create jobs and strengthen Brampton’s long-term economic position,” said Mayor Patrick Brown.

Gurpartap Singh Toor, chair of economic development, said the city’s strong industrial pipeline and supportive incentives make Brampton a top choice for companies looking to build and expand.
