Construction is underway on a new Nokia innovation campus in Ottawa’s Kanata North Technology Park, a 750,000-square-foot research and development facility that is expected to become a major addition to the region’s technology sector.

Broccolini has been appointed Nokia’s development and construction partner and is responsible for delivering the full scope of the campus.

The construction launch marks the beginning of the active build phase, with project teams, trades and other partners mobilizing on site.

Designed and built to high sustainability standards, the project includes the use of low-carbon materials, resilient energy systems and principles aligned with LEED certification.

“To be chosen to develop and build a campus of this importance for a global technology leader is a mark of real trust, and it is exactly the kind of complex, high-profile work Broccolini is built to deliver,” said James Beach, executive vice-president of real estate development at Broccolini.

Nokia Ottawa“This is one of the most significant projects in our history, and we are proud to be building it here in Ottawa.”

The project is also contributing to Broccolini’s expansion in the Ottawa market. The company said it is hiring and growing its local team across development, construction and project delivery to support the Nokia campus and other work in the region.

The facility will support Nokia’s research and development operations as the company continues its presence in Ottawa’s technology sector.
