Buildings Show: Technology innovations and transformation influencers attract thousands for networking, education and business opportunities

The annual Buildings Show is underway in Toronto. The event, which incorporates several sections relating to different aspects of the construction industry, attracts thousands of exhibitors and speakers for educational and networking opportunities.

“In addition to the show flors and interactive features such as tech pavilions, innovation showcases, networking lounges, awards presentations, live podcasts, a career hub and more, there is a comprehensive educational program with skill building roundtables, workshops and seminars,” says Nancy Milani, vice-president of Informa Markets.

There is a new Buildings Connect showcase across all markets of the show, designed to focus on technology innovations and transformation influencers.

“With the rapid advancement of technology in the design, construction and management of the built  environment, The Buildings Show has recognized the need for these conversations,” Milani said. “Buildings Connect is designed the entire spectrum of Proptech from design and construction to property management to accelerate innovation and transformation for all types of buildings.”

The show’s educational program has been developed “to provide a platform for sharing best practices and strategies and real0-life projects by leading companies creating smart buildings and smart cities,” said Teresa Baker, director of programming, Informa Markets, Construction and Real Estate.  “We will be addressing some of the important issues of data analysis, cybersecurity, connectivity, digital twins, roadmap for technology implementation, building operations and energy efficiency.”

In less official manners, competitors scope out each others’ public offerings, and clients and colleagues reconnect for business and social opportunities.

This is the first year Ontario Construction News has been at the show as a daily construction trade newspaper. If you’d like to meet us, visit Booth 955 (at the north end of the hall) in the South Building.

We attended the annual Concrete Ontario Awards on Wednesday evening. This is after our deadline, so we’ll report on it in a future issue.
