WELLAND – Canadian Metal Buildings (CMB) is planning a new 100,000-square-foot pre-engineered metal building manufacturing facility in Welland, marking a major investment in Canadian manufacturing and the evolution of the steel building sector.

The proposed facility will be built on a 12-acre site and is designed to increase production capacity while improving speed, precision and reliability as demand grows across the market.

The expansion will focus on workflow optimization, automation and scalability, with the goal of streamlining how pre-engineered metal buildings are delivered. Company officials say the project is intended to create a more efficient experience for builders, customers and employees.

“For builders, that means greater certainty, less friction, and a manufacturing partner built to help keep projects moving forward with confidence,” said Lucas Bruzzese, chief operating officer of CMB. He added the investment reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening its workforce and supporting long-term growth.

The facility will also include office space and supporting infrastructure, with CMB aiming to enhance internal systems and create expanded opportunities for its workforce.

Company president Justin Bruzzese said the investment aligns with local economic development priorities, particularly in advanced manufacturing and skilled trades.

“We are proud to invest in Welland and support the continued growth of the River Road Business Park,” he said. “This project represents more than a new facility. It creates opportunities for innovation, skilled careers, and long-term partnerships.”

Once complete, the facility is expected to support next-generation manufacturing capabilities and strengthen CMB’s position in the Canadian steel building market.

Operations are expected to begin by February 2028.
