OPG North Channel Boat Dock Shoreline Remediation

Detail Of Services: The scope of work for this project is to upgrade the gravel roadway and slope shoreline to concrete to in order to (i) “Correct Shoreline Erosion at North Channel Work Facility”, (ii) enable the use of outriggers on cranes in future ice boom operations, and (iii) eliminate the yearly road and shoreline maintenance (e.g. placing of fill) prior to ice boom operations. The scope of work consist of (but is not limited to the following): • Install temporary turbidity curtain along the 160 meters riprap shoreline during construction, • Install temporary cofferdams along the 160 meters riprap shoreline during construction, • Install temporary buoys and signage during construction. • Upgrade gravel slope shoreline to new concrete mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) sloping wall shoreline. • Install new thick riprap from bottom of new MSE sloping wall to riverbed along the new MSE sloping wall shoreline. • Upgrade the gravel road to concrete along the 160 meter shoreline. • Install sheet pile wall at both east and west ends of new concrete roadway and MSE sloping wall. • Install new box drain gutter along new concrete roadway for drainage. • Extend existing ditch located at the north end of the property out to the west section of the property, install a larger culvert at the east end of the drainage ditch, and move the location of the culvert about 15ft eastwards towards the drainage route. • In the easement area (i.e. landowner’s right of way) at the east end of the property, install a kayak ramp including sheet pile wall, additional fencing and access gates. • Install riprap at the mouth of the drainage route located at the east end of the property.  At the completion of the project, OPG Operations and Maintenance, at the North Channel work facility will have a road way and shoreline that requires minimal yearly maintenance, and will be able to use outriggers on their crane for ice boom operations. As well, shoreline erosion at the facility eliminated, and facility drainage will be improved.

Detail Of Services: Queen’s University is seeking proposals for the design and fabrication of an LN2 generation and storage plant (LN2 Plant) to be used underground by the SNOLAB facility. LN2 is used by several experiments at SNOLAB as either a cooling fluid or as a high purity cover gas. SNOLAB is an underground science laboratory specializing in neutrino and dark matter physics. Located 2 km below the surface in the Vale Creighton Mine located near Sudbury Ontario Canada, SNOLAB is an expansion of the existing facilities constructed for the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) solar neutrino experiment.  The scope is to supply all personnel, hardware, and equipment to design, fabricate, assemble, and install the LN2 Plant at SNOLAB. The system shall posses the following functions: 1) LN2 storage system to store 3,000 L of LN2 2) LN2 production system at a minimum rate of 3,000 L a week 3) LN2 decanting station 4) The fabricator is to install, commission, and arrange for regulatory approval of the supplied LN2 system comprising of; LN2 storage, LN2 Production, and all intermediary components.  Out of Scope: 1) Supply and tie in of electrical feed 2) Supply and tie in of chilled water supply 3) LN2 hard piped transfer system 4) Placement and securing of equipment to concrete floor 5) Low Pressure Cooling Loop
