Durham Region’s largest community housing provider has a new name and look.
The Durham Regional Local Housing Corporation (DRLHC) will now operate as Housing Durham, with the tagline “Your home, your community.” The rebrand includes a new logo featuring green and blue elements meant to symbolize growth, community, stability and security.
The updated identity reflects the modernization of the organization, its mission and values, and better represents current and future tenants, the Region of Durham said in a news release. Input was gathered from tenants, board members and staff during the process.
“Housing Durham” is operated by the Region and manages the largest portfolio of community housing in the area.
As part of its new strategic direction, Housing Durham says it will focus on revitalizing and redeveloping existing sites to add more affordable homes, improve accessibility and incorporate energy-efficient designs. The corporation is also planning mixed-income communities that combine market-rate and affordable rentals with rent-geared-to-income housing.
“Our new branding fits in with our vision to create housing that encompasses complete and thriving communities, while staying true to our mission of providing appropriate, affordable and inclusive housing,” said Erin Valant, Durham’s director of housing services. “Housing that works – for people, for communities and for the future.”
