The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) project has now entered the prequalification phase with the issuance of a request for qualifications (RFQ) to potential contractors.
The 9.2-kilometre long transit line will be built in four separate parts and delivered in two phases – 2023 and 2025. The first phase will procure contracts for stations, rail and systems, including the construction of seven new stations.
Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx, the two government agencies responsible for delivering the project, are seeking a highly qualified and experienced team to undertake this large-scale transit project.
The scope of the contract will encompass the installation, testing and commissioning of all rail and track components and systems equipment, as well as roadway modifications and utility works. The successful bidder will also be responsible for coordinating with other project companies on handover items from the advance tunnelling and elevated guideway contracts.
The RFQ is the first step in the selection process and will serve to prequalify teams that possess the necessary experience and financial capacity to undertake a project of this size and complexity. Interested parties must register with the Metrolinx website to download the RFQ.
