EllisDon has been awarded a contract to replace the Musquodoboit Harbour Bridge in Atlantic Canada.

“I’m extremely proud of the collaboration between our Atlantic and Civil East teams. Their hard work was instrumental in securing this milestone project,” said Derek Love, senior vice president and area Manager for EllisDon’s Civil Division. “We look forward to announcing more project wins in the future.”

The bridge, located on Highway Trunk 7 over the Musquodoboit River, about 40 kilometers east of Halifax, will undergo a complete overhaul. The existing 45.7-metre bridge will be replaced by a new 48-metre structure featuring structural steel I-girders, a thin-slab concrete deck, and a raised pedestrian sidewalk.

To ensure minimal disruption to traffic, a temporary detour route and bridge will be put in place during construction.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2025.

The new Musquodoboit Harbour Bridge will feature two lanes of traffic and a raised concrete sidewalk, providing a more modern and durable structure for the region.
