EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare (EDIH) has been selected to design, build and finance the 1Door4Care: CHEO Integrated Treatment Centre in Ottawa that will merge seven care locations, currently leased and spread across Ottawa, into a single purpose-built site on CHEO’s main Smyth Road campus.
The new site will include multi-use clinic space, a physiotherapy rehab gym, expanded mental health clinics, indoor and outdoor space where teachers and therapists combine education and therapy, secure space for children and youth with complex emotional needs, modern treatment rooms for kids with behavioural needs, advanced technology to enable virtual care, a physical link to the main building on campus, family support spaces, a new parking structure, and more.
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and CHEO selected EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare (EDIH) after extensive evaluations following an open, fair and competitive request for proposals process that began in November 2022. The EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare (EDIH) team includes:
- Applicant Lead: EllisDon Corporation
- Design Team: Montgomery Sisam Architects Inc., Vertechs Design Inc., WalterFedy, Mulvey & Banani International Inc., H. H. Angus and Associates Limited, Entuitive Corporation
- Construction Team: EllisDon Corporation
- Financial Advisor: EllisDon Capital Inc.
IO and CHEO will finalize contract details with EllisDon and the project is expected to reach financial close in the coming weeks. The contract cost will be announced following financial close, and construction is scheduled to begin shortly thereafter.
The 1Door4Care: CHEO Integrated Treatment Centre next to the main hospital will include:
- mental health clinics
- autism services
- rehabilitation services including occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech language pathology and social work
- respite services for children and youth with autism
- seating and mobility services
- space for community organizations to provide additional support to kids and families
Connected by a link to the main hospital building, this 220,000 square foot building will include medical clinics, treatment rooms, family support spaces, a school, a preschool and a range of multi-use clinical spaces.
This multi-year project funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services is a collaboration between CHEO and Infrastructure Ontario.
