Gage Park set to undergo construction to revitalize amenities

Ontario Construction News staff writer

Brampton’s historic Gage Park is undergoing a revitalization with critical renovations to increase its functionality for all users to enjoy. Gage Park is a multi-functional park providing recreational opportunities and events throughout the year.

Renovations started April 8, and include:

  • replacing the current ice pad
  • various power upgrades to enhance the capacity and functionality of the electrical distribution system
  • installing new refrigerant piping
  • resurfacing existing walkways
  • landscape irrigation throughout the park

Critical repairs will prepare the skating trail for future outdoor skating seasons. In addition, construction crews will use multiple layers of protection to prevent damage to trees and the natural environment to preserve Brampton’s urban forest and ecosystem.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by November.

In March 2022, city council directed staff to start procurement for replacing the ice pad and piping at Gage Park. A budget amendment of $1.9 million was made last year to move ahead with the next phase of the project.
