Infrastructure Ontario and Grandview Kids, in collaboration with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, say that the New Grandview Kids facility in Ajax has reached Substantial Completion.

This key milestone signifies that the facility is ready for use per contractual requirements, marking the conclusion of major construction.

A fixed-price contract of $85.3 million to Children First Consortium in 2022 to design, build and finance the Grandview Children’s Centre Redevelopment project.

The construction team includes:

  • Applicant Lead: Amico Design Build Inc., Sacyr Construction S.A
  • Design Team: Parkin Architects, H.H. Angus and Associates Limited
  • Construction Team: Amico Design Build Inc., Sacyr Construction S.A
  • Financial Advisor: Stonebridge Financial Corporation

Over the coming months, Grandview Kids will begin transitioning operations from its current sites to this new location, with an official opening planned for later in Fall 2024.

The new headquarters will feature comprehensive therapy services, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, therapeutic recreation, audiology, infant hearing services, support for individuals with vision impairments, and social work. Additionally, it will provide autism services, a preschool outreach program, school-based rehabilitation services, developmental pediatrics, specialized medical clinics, and resources for families and caregivers. The facility will also house the Grandview School and a branch of the Ajax Public Library.

The site consolidates Grandview’s existing main site in Oshawa and multiple satellite locations into the new purpose-built facility located on 5.06 acres of land, donated by the Town of Ajax. Grandview Kids will maintain three satellite locations in Clarington, Port Perry and Oshawa and its partnership with the Whitby Abilities Centre to reduce extensive travel times for some clients and caregivers.
