Ground broken on 25-unit affordable housing project in Delhi

NORFOLK COUNTY – Construction is underway on a new a three-storey affordable housing development in Delhi after local officials and housing partners gathered to mark the project’s groundbreaking at 686 Gibraltar St.

The development will include two accessible units are intended to provide supportive housing for six individuals in partnership with the Norfolk Association for Community Living.

Norfolk officials say the development is part of broader efforts to address housing needs and homelessness across the county.

“On behalf of Norfolk County council, I extend my gratitude and congratulations to the Haldimand-Norfolk Housing Corporation and Norfolk Association for Community Living for their successful affordable housing partnership,” said Deputy Mayor Adam Veri.

“This development is a significant step toward fulfilling council’s commitment to increasing access to safe, much-needed housing solutions for all Norfolk County residents.”

HNHC CEO Matt Bowen said the project was expanded during planning to serve more residents.

“By optimizing the site design, we were able to increase the development from 16 to 25 homes, allowing us to support more residents with a mix of rent-geared-to-income and affordable housing,” Bowen said. “We’re also proud to partner with Norfolk Association for Community Living to provide accessible housing for adults in our community who require supportive living arrangements.”

The Haldimand-Norfolk Housing Corporation and Norfolk County are jointly funding construction.
