As Canadians prepare to observe Remembrance Day, Helmets to Hardhats (H2H) is encouraging workers across the country including those on construction sites to take a moment to honour the service and sacrifice of Canada’s Veterans.

“November 5 to 11 marks Veterans’ Week, including Indigenous Veterans Day on November 8 and Remembrance Day on Nov. 11,” said James Hogarth, Executive Director of Helmets to Hardhats. “This week, we honour those who gave their lives in service to our country. It’s a solemn time for all Canadians, but especially for the military community and their families.”

Hogarth urged construction employers and workers to observe two minutes of silence tomorrow to reflect on the contributions of Canada’s fallen service members. “It’s an opportunity to remember not just their service, but the people behind the uniforms, and the sacrifices they made for all of us,” he said.

Helmets to Hardhats, a national non-profit that helps Veterans, reservists, and military family members transition into careers in the skilled trades, views its mission as an ongoing act of remembrance.

“At H2H, we believe one of the most meaningful ways to honour Canada’s Veterans and their families is to invest in their futures, and that commitment remains at the heart of everything we do,” Hogarth said. “As someone who works alongside and for Veterans and military members, I’m honoured to do so.”

Throughout Veterans’ Week, H2H staff and partners will attend ceremonies across the country, reflecting on the sacrifices made by those who served and recognizing the lasting impact of their service.

“Together, we can continue to honour Canada’s military community all year long by creating rewarding futures in the skilled trades,” Hogarth said.
