Merit Ontario and North American Trade School partner to strengthen welding training in Brampton

Merit Ontario for Training, a division of Merit OpenShop Contractors Association, has partnered with the North American Trade School (NATS) Brampton Campus to support its Welding Program, aiming to advance skilled trades education and workforce development in Ontario.

The NATS Welding Program offers students hands-on, industry-relevant training in a modern, state-of-the-art facility. The partnership with Merit Ontario will provide additional resources and support to enhance the program’s capacity and quality.

“This partnership is about creating real opportunities for young people to build meaningful careers in the trades,” said Troy Heath, Director of Operations and Training at Merit Ontario. “We are proud to support a program that aligns with our mission to strengthen Ontario’s skilled workforce.”

Emidio D’Alfonso, Vice President of Skilled Trades at NATS, welcomed the collaboration. “Their support will help us continue to deliver high-quality, hands-on training that prepares students for success in the field,” he said.

Merit Ontario for Training provides e-learning and customized training programs for the construction industry, designed to meet the evolving needs of employers of all sizes. NATS is a leading provider of career-focused, practical training across Ontario in high-demand trades including welding, HVAC, and electrical.

The partnership is expected to expand opportunities for students at the Brampton campus and contribute to building a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of Ontario’s construction and trades industries.
