The City of Oshawa says Anthony Ambra will be the city’s new Commissioner of Economic and Development Services. Ambra has served with the city for over 20 years and has held the positions of Manager of Design Services and Director of Engineering Services.

The new Commissioner will oversee the delivery of services for the city’s Economic and Development Services Department, which includes the Building Services, Business and Economic Development Services, Engineering Services and Planning Services Branches, a news release issued on Monday says. The Department plays a critical role in the city’s development and economic growth, supporting the creation of jobs and investment opportunities.

Ambra has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors and is well-positioned to lead the Economic and Development Services Department into a new era of growth and prosperity, the statement says.

He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, with memberships and associations including Professional Engineers Ontario, Municipal Engineers Association, Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and Ontario Provincial Standards Unit.

“Mr. Ambra is committed to providing innovative solutions and enhanced service delivery for the Economic and Development Services Department. He is confident that his strong leadership and experience will make a positive impact on the growth and prosperity of Oshawa,” the statement says.
