The Pinnacle SkyTower at Toronto’s One Yonge Street in December became the first building in Canada to pass the 100-storey mark.

Upon completion, expected in 2026, the Hariri Pontarini Architects’-designed, 106-storey SkyTower will reach a height of 352 metres, the architecture and design firm said in a statement.

Construction is well under way on the second phase of the Pinnacle One Yonge mixed use development designed by the Toronto-based firm that will consist of six skyscrapers.

The first tower – Prestige at 65 storeys – was completed in 2022. The second building, the SkyTower, will be Canada’s tallest residential building. The skyscraper will beat out One Bloor West, Canada’s first supertall skyscraper at 85 storeys and 308.6 metres.

Designed to evoke the form of a 12-sided jewel, SkyTower transitions from a retail podium into a sculpted vertical silhouette.

The building, with a slightly sloping facade with balconies on one side that resemble vents, will house 958 residential units, a Le Meridien hotel, amenities, and a restaurant on the top floor. The building amenities on the upper floors will sit at roughly the same elevation as the CN Tower’s main observation deck.

“The design of the Pinnacle Sky Tower is inspired by its urban context and by our goal of establishing a strong sculptural presence on the skyline,” said Hariri Pontarini Architects’ founding partner, David Pontarini. “From the outside, this geometry reflects light in different ways and results in a distinctive silhouette that shifts depending on the angle you view it from.”

‍”We are pleased to celebrate Pinnacle SkyTower reaching 100 storeys,” added Michael De Cotiis, CEO of project developer Pinnacle International.

“We have created a landmark, one that is making history not only for Toronto, but for all of Canada.”
