Premier Doug Ford joined members of LiUNA Local 183 and their families at the union’s annual Family Day Picnic on Saturday, celebrating the contributions of construction workers across Ontario.
The annual event brought together thousands of LiUNA Local 183 members and their families for a day of rides, games, live entertainment, food, and community activities at Downsview Park. The picnic is one of the union’s signature events, recognizing the dedication of workers who help build and maintain Ontario’s homes, roads, transit systems, hospitals, and other critical infrastructure.
Ford thanked attendees for their work and acknowledged the role skilled tradespeople play in supporting the province’s growing economy.
“This afternoon, I joined LiUNA Local 183 for their annual Family Day Picnic,” the premier said in a social media post. “Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with the workers that are building Ontario.”
LiUNA Local 183, Canada’s largest construction local, represents workers across a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and infrastructure construction. The annual Family Day Picnic serves as an opportunity for members and their families to gather outside the workplace while recognizing the contributions of Ontario’s skilled trades workforce.
The event also featured the union’s annual prize raffle, family-friendly attractions, and entertainment, drawing members from across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
