Senior residents are expected to arrive this fall now that construction of the 200-bed, not-for-profit Runnymede Long-Term Care Home in west Toronto is complete.
The home will be part of a campus of care integrated into the broader health-care system, the Ministry of Long-Term Care said in a statement. It said the main floor will serve as a community hub, with a lobby, therapy rooms, a worship area, resident laundry services and rooms for recreational activities.
The home is designed around eight resident home areas each with its own dining rooms, lounges and bedrooms, to create living spaces for groups of up to 30 residents, the Ministry of Long-Term Care said in a statement.
Traugott Building Contractors Inc. has been the construction management company on the project, with construction commencing in 2021. The facility was designed by Montgomery Sisam.
Construction is underway, meanwhile, on a 124-bed long-term care home in Richmond Hill that is a recipient of funding under the province’s Capital Funding Program.
The Carefirst Campus of Care York Region project is a not-for-profit home that will have a medical centre on the ground level and be part of a campus of care to provide convenient access to health care services for residents. The home’s amenities will include a café-tuck shop, hair salon, chapel, secure outdoor garden and paths.
The home’s design includes larger resident common areas and air conditioning throughout. It is expected to welcome its first residents in 2027.
