Ontario Construction News staff writer

The City of Windsor held a public information session Thursday evening to present details about the planned redevelopment of Kinsmen Norman Road Park and a proposed zoning by-law amendment that would support improvements to the neighbourhood green space.

The proposed redevelopment is part of the city’s Rediscover Our Parks Master Plan and aind includes initiatives such as Planning for Windsor’s Growth and Housing Solutions Made for Windsor. Upgrades aim to improve accessibility, increase year-round use, and enhance the overall quality of the park.

Initial work is already underway, including the removal of an outdated washroom building.

As part of the plan, the city is proposing to rezone the southern portion of the park from Green District 1.1 (GD1.1) to Residential District 1.2 (RD1.2). The zoning change would allow for the development of six single-unit residential lots. Proceeds from this development would help fund park improvements.

Written comments on the proposed zoning amendment will be accepted until July 11 by email at KN********@****on.ca or by mail to Dillon Consulting Limited. The proposed changes will be reviewed at a future City Council meeting.
