Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) has awarded a contract to the Canadian joint venture Parsons/Stantec, which includes Parsons Inc. and Stantec Consulting Ltd., valued at up to $10,605,248. This contract is for the professional services of a technical advisor to assist with the Eastern Bridge project.
The Government of Canada is focused on constructing a multimodal bridge in the eastern section of the National Capital Region by 2034. This bridge aims to enhance public transit networks, drive economic growth in Gatineau and Ottawa, reduce truck congestion in downtown areas, and improve commuting times and safety for active transportation users.
“Our government is dedicated to enhancing interprovincial mobility in the National Capital Region. The Eastern Bridge will not only improve transportation across both sides of the Ottawa River but also boost long-term economic growth,” said Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Procurement.
The technical advisor will support PSPC and collaborate with the National Capital Commission (NCC) as part of a unified project team. The advisor will provide expert guidance in areas such as technical studies, economic and environmental assessments, impact evaluations, and the development of conceptual designs, ensuring that the project benefits from industry-leading solutions and efficiencies.
Public consultations will be held to ensure the project develops in a way that minimizes its impact on local communities and the environment. The Government of Canada, which oversees interprovincial bridges and crossings, is managing the project in partnership with the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada and local provincial and municipal authorities.
