Construction of Hamilton’s new Confederation GO Station is complete, with service scheduled to begin later this fall.

The new facility is part of Metrolinx’s Niagara Extension program, designed to improve connections between Hamilton, Niagara and the Greater Toronto Area. Officials say the program will contribute to the agency’s broader goal of delivering more than 10,000 train trips per week across the GO network.

Premier Doug Ford said the station will improve service for residents in Hamilton and Stoney Creek while easing congestion at Burlington and West Harbour GO stations. “The opening of Confederation GO Station will be a game changer for residents … while bringing much-needed relief to Burlington and West Harbour GO,” Ford said.

Features include a fully accessible island platform with canopies, a pedestrian tunnel, bicycle racks, and a pick-up and drop-off zone with space for 15 vehicles. The site also has 148 parking spots and direct pedestrian access from Centennial Parkway.

“As Hamilton and Niagara continue to grow, our government is connecting families, commuters and businesses across the Greater Golden Horseshoe to transit they can rely on every day,” said Ontario Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria.

This is the first new GO station to open in four years, with additional projects underway at future hubs such as East Harbour and Woodbine.
